Changing MT4 or MT5 Trading Account Password

This article provides instructions on changing the password for a trading account on different devices.

Desktop (Windows or Mac)

Here are the steps to change the trading account password through your MT4/ MT5 desktop.

1. Open your MT4/MT5 trading platform on your desktop. Go to the menu bar.
2. Click on Tools on the menu bar. From the dropdown menu, select Options.
3. In the Options window, navigate to the Server tab containing your trading account and server settings.
4. Locate the Change button next to the password field under the Server tab. Click on this button to initiate the password change process.
5. A dialog box will appear, prompting you to enter your current password.
6. After entering your current password, you can change either the master or investor passwords. The master password allows full control over the account, including trading and managing funds, while the investor password provides read-only access.
7. Type the new password and confirm it by re-entering it in a separate field.
8. Look for a Save or OK button within the password change dialog box, or close the dialog box to automatically save the changes.
9. After saving the changes, you may receive a confirmation message indicating the successful password change. Additionally, you may be prompted to re-enter your new password for verification purposes.
10. Finally, log out of your MT4/MT5 account and log back in using your new password to ensure the changes have successfully occurred.

iOS (iPhone or iPad)

For MetaTrader on iOS, here are the steps to change the password:

1. Navigate to the Settings section of the MetaTrader app.
2. Tap on the banner at the top of the page displaying their account details.
3. Click on the three horizontal dots located in the corner of the screen.
4. Select the Change Password option from the account options menu to initiate the process.
5. Change the master password associated with the account.
6. Once the new master password is entered, save the changes by following the on-screen prompts or tapping on the Save button.
   
   

Android

For MetaTrader on Android, follow these steps:

1. In the MT4 or MT5 mobile app, tap on the three horizontal bars on the upper left corner of the screen to access the app's menu.
2. Select Manage Accounts from the menu to access the account settings and options.
3. In the account management section, the user taps on the three horizontal dots at the screen's upper right corner to get the additional account options dropdown menu.
4. Select the Change Password option from the dropdown menu, which will prompt the password change process for the selected account.
